hello?repeat 022 brings flash and anavi. both tracks in essence bring a linear and continuous flow, to many, a daze maxim signature in the sense that each element does not scream for attention alone, it is the combination of them which creates the overall impact. a dose of what we need when we need it. it is to do with structure, it is about the way in which elements are thrown in adding that bit of surprise effect which is able to stunt and amuse us all in a very good way. flash starts with a solid bass line, the vocal flash, a hypnotic cosmic/trippy element and a hoovering noise on the background making up the intro. the locomotive sounding high-hats then slam in, which together with the bass line complete a dance floor bliss of a track with all that groove.

since day one, radiq has been showing an affinity for the afro-centric funkiness and carefully-honed sound design of modern days minimal music. as in many of his previous tracks, all six songs of >vida noir< has this certain kind of unyielding quality - long, hypnotic grooves with muted kick drum set the stage for more emancipated experiments in texture and sound design. on >a long hot summer break<, for example, the effect is utterly obvious as kicking its ass into gear with syncopated drums and strain of warm chords before animated vocal sample slips in like fingerprint. while deeply seductive interplay of those chugging percussion gives way to delighted horn of >a-dieu<, warm chord and acoustic guitar of >calling< is perfect example for radiqs masterful sound and texture. >machine codes modified< has rather restrained structure for him, but tightly woven drums speaks eloquently about its carefully arranged funkiness and dance floor functionality. despite their repetitiveness, its surprising how well these productions forming cohesive solidarity as an album. presumably, it owes a lot to wide tonal vocabulary which is radiqs hallmark - these tracks has something concentrated, vivid qualities. this album sits just at the edge of the dance floor, but also performs its exceptional strength on intense home listening. dusky synth and truncated surge of bass of >vida noir< constructing something dark, before closing this album with modulated afro-acoustic guitar and deep falsetto voice (by the producer himself) of >rondo<. this album offers up an engaging and comprehensive amalgamation from the inquisitive sound by the maestro

after appearances on idle hands and brstl, rhythmic theory returns to their own imprint to further explore gritty textures and mysterious moods within house and techno frameworks. where theory001 featured the somewhat soothing, melancholic tones of >echo vibe< and >omega syndrome<, this second installment comes caked in sonic muck and abrasive attitude.its not all dark and foreboding, as the graceful filter-swept key refrain of >siren song< will attest, but it takes a barrage of rasping hats and bludgeoning kicks and toms before such niceties can be foisted upon our ears. while there is an optimistic lilt to the particular notes the melody calls out, in the midst of such machismo percussion it cant help but feel emotionally ambiguous, continuing the tone set out in the first rhythmic theory releases.there is no such confusion over b side cut >genesis< from the apocalyptic boom of the opening kick to the rapid gun fire of the snare this is a track that wants to inflict damage. at the midway point the searing beat melts away as a wash of delay-riddled speech knocks you from your centre of gravity, only for the drums to come whipping back in to pick up the slack. even the sole synth note that rears its head is devoid of compassion, pulsing a creepy, robotic intonation through the clamour.

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didn t seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. all four tracks were recorded in 1992. staples of jd twitchs dj sets at the timem and all tracks he still plays to this day.

rondenion is a japanese dj and producer. his link with music started working as a recording artist in the late 90s. under the name hirofumi goto, his released his debut ep *ameria*. it drew attention for its dark atmosphere, and was played by international figures of the electronic scene such as derrick may. he changed his name to rondenion as a tribute to chicago and detroit. not so long later, he released his *love bound ep* on the respected rush hour records. it reached the top sales chart position on the rushhour store, and rondenion began to make himself known within the european scene. in 2012, he co-founded ragrange symphony, alongside no milk and kez ym. kicks kicks is a young graphist, dj and producer based in france. his passion for skateboarding lead him to discover all the 90s deep house/garage scene such as kerry chandler through skateboard videotapes. his debut set happened in bordeaux a few years ago alongside nicholas & larcier. he is an analog freak and started producing his first tracks in 2013 which will finally be out on cracki records.

ghostek is a russian garage and techno producer currently residing in moscow. he has previously released vinyl on other heights and shiprec, and has collaborated with rooflight as ghostlight, releasing a 12 inch on styrax. a prolific producer, his tracks have created a substantial online fan base, with some of his productions reaching tens of thousands of plays. he runs the digital label squared harmony. the *no way out ep* is composed of four tracks, two very garage leaning, two more towards techno, all reminiscent of londons music scene, despite the producers russian location. the dark atmosphere of the music is reflected in the artwork and track names across the release. sub squared is a new label, a sub-label of project squared which has a back catalogue including tracks by kowton, and, asusu and tom dicicco. the aim of this new label is to represent the taste of one of the two founders of project squared.

on uncanny valley s catalogue number 18 we finally welcome back credit 00 who is a man in charge of a decent collection of those dusty machines we all love. after the ice cold the living room life ep from 2012, his brand new record ice cream is easy to fall in love with. packed with tunes to suit various moods in life, it will be a faithful companion in dark basements or lonesome hours. ice cream starts deliciously with its sleazy sample choice. with the distinctive drum work it builds up to a true chicago-inspired dance floor banger. round n round hits hard with a harsh kick and cowbell action before it shows off slightly melancholic lead synths and a subtle but effective bass line and puts the emphasis on the fact that things go round and round. life s a dizzy affair. east of nowhere with that bass line-sound is credit 00 to the core. and with spooky synths he puts you to an east of nowhere-place where you will lose yourself in manic trance-like dancing. the record ends with red wine , a slightly different electronic love song sung by credit 00. the cover artwork was created by alexander dorn.
